I can be calmer than anybody I can be wilder too it's not necessarily a virtue or true it's a slow advance of sense on henceforth what shall be called a zoo of disproportionate caged inordinate yellow black and blue the kind kind that appear on flowers not the bruise in the act this is a wild calm to go through

about

These two songs came out of the middle of the lockdown. Before the protests started and before America went into this period of what I hope is some kind of awakening. It's almost hard to remember that time in March/April where we still talked about staying inside, sourdough, and the rate of spread of the virus. That's where these came from.

I felt the world spinning all around - and also the quiet streets and empty house. Hence the line: "In the act, this is a wild calm to go through."

The second track started as a front porch jam when the sun came out and pulled a cheery melody out of the guitar. That riff became the starting point for some improv in the studio.

These are the first tracks recorded in the new studio space on the Boise Bench.
